fraction
a representation of a division of a number; a part of a whole.
The fraction "two-fourths" shows that the
whole is divided into four equal parts, and we're talking about two of them.
numerator
the top number in a fraction shows the number of parts of the whole
taken.
The numerator appears above the line in a fraction.
denominator
the bottom number in a fraction shows the number of parts the whole has
been divided into.
The denominator shows how many equal parts the whole
contains in total.
